PRESS RELEASE

Amendment of the indicative calendar for the Eurosystem's tender operations in 2003

5 May 2003

The European Central Bank (ECB) will today publish an amended version of the indicative calendar for the Eurosystem's tender operations in 2003 (see the attached annex).

The purpose of the small amendments is to avoid the settlement/maturity of tender operations on 24 and 31 December 2003, as was foreseen in the previous version of the calendar. Experience in 2002, when these days had been settlement/maturity days, and feedback from the ECB's counterparties would suggest that credit institutions generally prefer to avoid the settlement/maturity of tender operations on these two days.
